#0004 ~ Patience in Our Carnivore Journey.

Hmmm, 45 days and haven’t lost our 100 pounds each.

7/16/2023

We haven’t yet roasted our respective 100 pound goals despite being 45 days into our carnivorous journey. Who would’ve guessed it would take more than six weeks for each person to reduce the equivalent amount of weight as a small human? Obviously, we share your shock.

The Power of Irrational Expectations. Setting improbable, lofty objectives is a common temptation. Who wouldn’t want to look like they were carved by the ancient Greeks when they wake up one morning? However, reality has a way of bringing us back to the fact that losing weight is a marathon, not a sprint (and most definitely not a short trip to the refrigerator).

The Value of Patience (and Avoiding Self-Weighing Every Five Minutes). They claim that patience is a virtue. It appears to be necessary for anyone wanting to reduce weight while following the carnivorous diet. No one knew. But we’re becoming better at enjoying the journey, even if it means restraining ourselves from stepping on the scale every time we pass a restroom.

We haven’t had a potato in 45 days: The Successes That Don’t Show on the Scale. The numbers alone are not everything. Additionally, we have benefited from cleaner skin, increased vitality, and the superhuman capacity to resist french fries. That has to be significant in some way, right?

Holding fast to the faith—and the steak. Sure, we haven’t yet accomplished our blatantly inflated objective. However, we’re continuing on as planned, grilling our meats, and taking it easy. Who says a carnivore can’t enjoy themselves occasionally?

How We Discovered That Losing Weight Doesn’t Work Like a Drive-Through for Fast Food. We are reminded that melting pounds (or even ounces) requires a slow cooker, not a microwave. Waiting pays off in the form of perfectly cooked brisket and a steady, healthy weight loss.

Wrapping this up: Now that 45 days have passed, we have consumed a few pounds (though not 100, mind you). It turns out that the secret is patience, perseverance, and a sense of humor. We are enthusiastic about our accomplishments thus far and much more so about the road ahead. Who knows, maybe by day 450 we’ll have displaced those 100 pounds or at the very least mastered the art of cooking steak. Either way, we come out on top.
